Why Milk Is Considered As A Complete Food

If you were not aware of the fact, 1st of June is known as World Milk Day worldwide. This campaign was started by the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization for highlighting the sheer importance of milk from a global perspective. Milk comes packed with the best nutrients and ample goodness for enhanced health and wellbeing. It is a crucial part of daily dietary regimes in several countries and cultures, be it through regular coffee, tea, beverages, ice cream and other dairy products. In fact, milk has been called a complete food. Milk from cows is processed although it is not a fabricated or engineered product. It contains roughly 13% solids and 87% water. The fat component of the milk comprises of helpful and fat-soluble vitamins. Solids other than fats include carbohydrates, proteins, minerals and water soluble vitamins.

These nutrients add towards making milk the most perfect food item for human beings. Whey proteins make up roughly 18% of overall protein that is contained in milk. Casein is another protein which is only contained in milk and this has several vital amino acids to boot. It is a rich source of B vitamins, particularly Vitamin B12 which ensures superior brain and nervous system functions. Milk also contains higher amounts of Vitamin B3 or niacin which ensures maintenance of proper weight while enhancing energy levels simultaneously. Calcium content in dairy products and foods also enhances overall metabolism of the fats. Calcium content may also reduce hypertension linked risks for those consuming milk. This is made possible through maintenance of blood vessel elasticity. Capric acid is another healthy fat which enables increases in HDL cholesterol levels.

Those suffering from diabetes may also enjoy a glass of milk for its palmitoleic acid content. This is a strongly healthy fat which safeguards from insulin resistance.
